New eye to the sky

From the new tower the controllers can see all the three runways, the apron area and taxiways
The new ATC tower solves the problem of space constraint accommodating more workstations and larger number of controllers at a time in the tower.
The new tower will lead to division of air space into nine sectors and reduce number of flights handled by one controller at a timer, thereby increasing efficiency. Independent Parallel Approach will be applicable which will allow two controllers to manage arrivals at two runways simultaneously. At present, only one controller handles the arrivals on both runways.
ity, better decisions can be taken. Up here, we need to take decisions in seconds and every time it’s a matter of hundreds of lives,” said a controller, who is not authorised to speak to the media.
