Tiktok video helps police catch history-sheeter

PUNE: The Wakad police nabbed a wantedcrim­inalonmond­ayafter he was seen on a Tiktok video on social media.

The accused, identified as Deepak Dakhale is a resident of Rahatani. Dakhale was booked earlier this year in an alleged acid attack incident and in 2018 for physically assaulting an individual.

In the video, the accused is seen dancing to the tune of the Marathi song ‘Vadhiv Distay Rao’. The video was posted from the id of a person named Yash, who is presumed to be a friend of the accused. The video was being circulated in multiple Whatsapp groups.

An unidentifi­ed person came across the video and alerted the police. In the video Dakhale is seen striking poses with a weapon in front of Hotel Krushnal road, in Kalewadi; riding triple seat on a bike, said police officials.

“The accused is a historyshe­eter and steps are being taken to curtail this from becoming a trend that might negatively influence people,” said Satish Mane, senior police inspector, Wakad police station.

The accused was booked under relevant sections of Arms Act and Maharashtr­a Police Act.
