Argentina: Covid survivor gets black fungus
The first case of mucormycosis, also known as “black fungus”, has been confirmed in Argentina, the country’s health ministry has said. The patient is a 47-year-old woman from the province of Formosa, who has a history of high blood pressure and diabetes. She had experienced the onset of coronavirus symptoms on May 11 and was later tested for mucormycosis earlier in June.
The US has sent across 2.5 million doses of Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine to Taiwan on Sunday, tripling an earlier pledge in a donation that will be watched closely by China.
