Ronaldo on the mark again as Man United beat Brentford 3-0
MANCHESTER: Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be the shining light in an otherwise disappointing season for Manchester United.
Make that 18 goals in the Premier League for the Portugal superstar after he converted a penalty in a 3-0 victory over Brentford on Monday.
Ronaldo also had a goal disallowed at Old Trafford for a narrow offside as United saved one of their best performances of the season for its final home game. Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane—with his first in English football—were the other scorers.
The victory kept alive—at least mathematically—sixth-placed United’s chance of finishing in the top four. United, though, have only two games remaining and are five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and three behind Tottenham, with both rivals still having four to play.
Wisden strips WG Grace of two tons
LONDON: One of cricket’s oldest career records has been rewritten after Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack decided to reduce the number of First-class hundreds scored by England’s WG Grace.
Grace was thought to have scored his 100th century for Gloucestershire against Somerset on May 17, 1895. But Wisden has now fallen into line with Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians, who have long questioned the status of several First-class games played by Grace. As a result, 10 matches have been removed from Grace’s record, reducing his tally of runs from 54,896 to 54,211, cutting his wickets from 2,876 to 2,809 and lowering his centuries from 126 to 124. Now Wisden has ruled that Grace’s 100th ton came a fortnight later when he also became the first man to hit 1,000 first-class runs before the end of May, one of only eight cricketers to achieve the feat.

O’sullivan wins seventh world snooker title
LONDON: Ronnie O’sullivan equalled Stephen Hendry’s modern-day record of seven snooker World Championship titles by stopping a Judd Trump rally in its tracks with an 18-13 win in the final on Monday.
O’sullivan played down his achievement in matching Hendry’s tally. “I’ve never bothered about records—when you get them, it’s kind of nice, I’ve never performed well if going for that,” he said.
