HYDERABAD: Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday sounded the bugle for 2023 Telangana assembly elections and hit out at the K Chandrashekar Rao-led government in the state for alleged corruption and unkept promises and expressed confidence that his party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is ready to face the state polls.

Shah also appealed to the electorate to defeat the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and make elect the BJP in the 2023 assembly elections.

“Do we need to change the Nizam of Telangana or not?” he asked the gathering, in a reference to CM KCR.

Shah was addressing a public meeting which marked the culmination of state BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s second phase of ‘padayatra’ (march).

The Union minister accused the TRS government of failing to fulfil the major planks of separate Telangana agitation of “water, funds and jobs”.

The BJP, if elected to power, would implement them, he said, adding his party would end minority reservations in Telangana and increase the quota for scheduled tribes, scheduled castes and backward classes.

Shah expressed confidence of the BJP coming to power in the state and urged the voters to elect his party for secure and prosperous Telangana.

Shah also inaugurated the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory in Hyderabad. “Inaugurated the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (E) in Hyderabad. Cybercrime is one of the biggest challenges to the 21stcentury world. Modi govt is setting up a modern cyber lab ecosystem across the nation,” the minister tweeted.
