Ponting taken to hospital during commentary stint

PERTH: Ricky Ponting was taken to hospital on Friday after a health scare while on commentary duties at the first Test between Australia and the West Indies in Perth, reports said. The Australian newspaper said it was a heart issue but not serious.

Meanwhile, Australia gained control for the Test after bowling out West Indies for 283.

Tactical substitute to be allowed in IPL 2023

MUMBAI: The BCCI has informed the franchises that a tactical substitute will be allowed in IPL 2023. The final regulation­s of the move are still awaited.

The feedback BCCI has received after trying it in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 has been positive. During the domestic tournament, teams were allowed to use an Impact player who would replace any member of the playing eleven before the end of the 14th over of either innings.

Pollard, Rashid to lead MI teams in UAE, SA

NEW DELHI: Kieron Pollard will lead MI Emirates and Afghan allrounder Rashid Khan will captain MI Cape Town in the two new T20 leagues beginning next month, the owners of the franchises said on Friday.
