HATTANGADI DEPOSES BEFORE BCCI PROBE PANEL
MUMBAI: Former Mumbai captain Shishir Hattangadi deposed before the three-member committee formed to probe the allegations of sexual harassment against BCCI CEO Rahul Johri on Monday. “It was very impressive, very structured, they didn’t cut corners,” said Hattangadi. On the eve of the deposition, Hattangadi had expressed apprehension about the process being followed by the panel regarding to maintaining confidentiality. But he came out satisfied after the one-hour deposition. Hattangadi’s deposition is supposed to be crucial. The first one to depose before the probe panel on Monday was Aditya Verma, the man who’s litigations ultimately resulted in the Supreme Court order on Lodha reforms. The probe committee comprises Justice Rakesh Sharma, former judge of Allahabad High Court, Barkha Singh, former chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women and women’s rights lawyer Veena Gowda.
Kohli lost control during ‘leave India’ remark: Anand
KOLKATA : Former world champion Viswanathan Anand feels India captain Virat Kohli became emotional and lost control during his “leave India” comment to a fan on social media, which snowballed into a controversy. “I think he lost control. He got a bit emotional and he just said the first thing that came to his mind,” Anand, one of India’s greatest sporting icons, said on the sidelines of the Tata Steel Chess. “That’s the attitude he is comfortable with. In sport, you see all characters and this is the character that fits him best. I try to be myself and in the end you should be comfortable in your own skin,” he added.
Rain washes out Pak hopes of series win over Kiwis
DUBAI: Rain forced the third and final ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand to be abandoned Sunday, extending the Asian side’s seven-year wait for a series win over the Black Caps. New Zealand, set a daunting 280-run target against a potent Pakistan bowling attack were 35-1 after 6.5 overs when rain halted play. That left the series tied at 1-1.
