NEW DELHI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar, who are learnt to have discussed the seat sharing arrangement between the two parties in Maharashtra. All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Maharashtra Mallikarjun Kharge and NCP leader Praful Patel were also present during the meet, according to party insiders. The leaders are giving final touches to the parliamentary poll seat-sharing arrangement and the way forward in bringing together various opposition parties under a common platform to defeat the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls, party leaders said on the condition of anonymity. They may agree to a formula under which Congress will contest 25, while NCP will contest 23 but there was no decision on this.
IS module case: NIA takes accused to Amroha BAREILLY: A joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) on Wednesday conducted searches at several locations in Amroha for the third time in a fortnight. The follow-up action came after the NIA arrested 10 people and busted an Isis-inspired terror module Harkate-harb-e-islam on December 26. The NIA team brought with them one of the arrested suspects, Suhail, a resident of Mullana locality of Amroha, and conducted searches at the houses of his relatives in Saidpur Imma village.
36-year-old woman says she prayed at Sabarimala THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the entry of two women in Sabarimala temple last week which triggered widespread protests in the state a Dalit woman activist on Wednesday claimed she entered the hill shrine and had a ‘darshan’ of the presiding deity Lord Ayyappa in the early hours of Tuesday. P Manju (36) made this claim in her Facebook post saying she entered the shrine by acting as an old woman who passed 50 years of age. She also posted her photo at the temple.
