NEWDELHI:THE manager of an electronics warehouse in Karol Bagh alleged that four armed men barged into the property Thursday, taped his limbs and mouth, held him at gunpoint and made away with ₹29 lakh in cash.

The manager said the robbers locked him inside the warehouse, but he managed to free himself and raise an alarm, after which a local resident made an unsuccessful bid to take on the thieves.

A case of robbery and under sections of the Arms Act was registered at Karol Bagh police station. The police said they were still to make a breakthrough and that the manager is yet to be given a clean chit.

The manager, 37-year-old Chintu Gupta, has been handling the warehouse for the past three years. He would mostly be alone at the warehouse, which stored mobile phones and watches.

“Two of the men had masked themselves using helmets. But I can identify each of them if paraded before me,” Gupta said in his statement to the police.

Gupta alleged that the robbers were carrying a gun and a knife and forced him to switch off the CCTV cameras, before asking him to direct them to the cash.

“The robbers stole a total of ₹29.19 lakh cash and left me inside the warehouse... But I managed to free myself and raised an alarm through the window,” he said.

A resident passing by tried to take on the robbers, but unsuccessful, Gupta told the police.

The police said Gupta and the local resident were being questioned. “There is no evidence against Gupta so far, but we haven’t given him a clean chit yet,” an investigator said.
