Annual Day at Army Public School, Shankar Vihar
Army Public School, Shankar Vihar celebrated its annual function – ‘Srijan-the Story of Creation’. Major General Rajeev Thapar, General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Division, was the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Dr. Avinashi Kapoor, Joint Dean Student Welfare, University of Delhi-south Campus. The special guest was Dr. Kalpana Bhakuni, Principal Kamla Nehru College, Delhi University. The event commenced with lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Chairman of the school, Brigadier Lawinder Singh, Commander 35 Infantry Brigade escorted the guests along with Principal Malini Narayanan. The annual report was presented by the Principal and the student reporters of the school News Desk. The students wowed the audience with their performances and dance numbers. The function culminated with the house awards ceremony.
Delhi Public School, Rohini celebrated ‘KALEIDOSCOPE’, an amalgamation of Mental Wellness and Inclusion. Students from various schools participated in the events. A Panel Discussion on the topic ‘Social Media and Youth’ was an enriching experience for the audience. A debate on the topic ‘Social Acceptance Leads to Inclusion’ offered some food for thought. A Short Story Writing Competition on the topic ‘Inclusion in Everyday Life’ saw an enthusiastic participation of students. Principal Vibha Singh welcomed the panelists and judges Rippan Sippy, a renowned Clinical Psychologist and Special Educator, Dr. Renuka Malik, associate Professor in Government Girls College, Bahadurgarh, Dr. Nisha Vashisht, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Miranda House and Mamta Saluja, a recipient of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Teacher’s Award 2015. The celebration was a successful attempt at sensitizing the viewers about the importance of ‘Inclusion’.
The annual Ramjas InterSchool English and Hindi Debate Competition were held at NDMC Convention Centre, Sansad Marg. The Preliminary Rounds were held earlier at Ramjas School, Pusa Road. About 60 reputed schools in and around Delhi participated. The judges for the debates - Dr. Tara Chadha, former Reader in English at Shy- ama Prasad Mukherjee College, University Delhi; Padmaja, Joint Secretary in the Foreign Ministry and Deputy General at the ICCR and Mihir Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor of History at ARSD College, University of Delhi were welcomed by the Principal Surabhi Dua. Punya Prasun Bajpai, an eminent personality in the field of electronic and print media was the Chief Guest. The participants showed a keen knowledge of the topics and exhibited their debating prowess skillfully. In English, St Thomas School, Mandir Marg won the Running Trophy while In Hindi, K.I.IT World School, Pitampura lifted the Trophy.
Somerville School, Vasundhara Enclave, held its Annual Day, ‘Chrysalis 2018’ at the Siri Fort Auditorium showcasing the talent of over six hundred students. The occasion was graced by the members of the Board of Management; Mary George, President of the Lott Carey Baptist Mission in India, Thomas T. Roy, the Secretary/ Treasurer of the LCBM in India, D.A. Tressler, the Chairperson a n d Director, Somerville Schools, Abraham Mathew, the Manager of the school, members of the Managing Committee and parents. The programme commenced with a prayer followed by a melodious presentation ‘Swaranjali’. The school felicitated the staff members who had completed 25 years of service. The highlight of the evening was `Fiddler on the Roof’, an acclaimed musical. Vote of thanks was proposed by Principal Esther Mani.
