Railways women lift national hockey title
HISAR (HARYANA): The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) were crowned champions for the sixth straight time after they outclassed Hockey Madhya Pradesh 5-0 in the final of the 9th Hockey India senior women Nationals at the Astroturf International Stadium here on Monday.
A brace each from Neha (12th minute, 16’) and Navneet Kaur (25’, 28’) along with Vandana Katariya’s goal in the 10th minute saw the defending champions secure yet another title in fine fashion. In the bronze medal match, Hockey Haryana beat Hockey Maharashtra 3-2.
INDIA BOXERS IN FINAL
NEWDELHI:ASIAN Games gold-medallist Amit Panghal (49kg) and former junior world champion Nikhat Zareen (51kg) were among the four Indian boxers who made the finals of the 70th Strandja Memorial Tournament on Monday in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Others who made the final stage in the women’s competition were Manju Rani (48kg) and Meena Kumari Devi (54kg).
However, Pwilao Basumatari (64kg), Neeraj (60kg) and Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) settled for bronze medals.
LA PEGASUS POLO
NEW DELHI: Aravali will take on Sona Polo in the first match of the La Pegasus Polo Northern India Polo Championship for the Ratlam Challenge Cup at the Jaipur Polo Ground on Tuesday. The +16 goal tournament will feature four teams over six games, with the other teams being Sahara Warriors and Jindal Panther. The final will be held on February 24.

SHILLONG: Pedro Manzi scored two goals and set up another to guide table-toppers Chennai City FC to a 4-2 win over bottom-placed Shillong Lajong in an I-league game here on Monday.
