SENSEX MARKS WORST LOSING STREAK IN NEARLY EIGHT YEARS
BENGALURU: Indian shares erased early gains to end lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark BSE Sensex clocking ninth straight session of falls, its longest losing streak in nearly eight years. The broader NSE Nifty fell for the eighth straight session and closed 0.34% lower at 10,604.35, while the benchmark BSE Sensex ended 0.41% lower at 35,352.61. Both the indexes posted their worst closing levels since December 11. The NSE Nifty marked its longest losing streak in nearly four years. Information technology stocks were the biggest drag, with the sectoral index finishing 2.1% lower. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, the top drag on the NSE index, closed down 3.3%.
Twitter changes political ad policy ahead of LS polls
NEW DELHI: Political groups campaigning on Twitter for the Lok Sabha elections due later this year will need to register with the social media platform, the company announced on Tuesday as it unveiled tougher advertising rules designed to protect elections from foreign interference. Twitter said it will expand its political ads policy and transparency approach to include India, Australia and all EU member states. “This comes as a part of Twitter’s overall commitment to protect the health of the public conversation on its service and to provide meaningful context around all political entities who use its advertising products,” the company said in a statement.
