A week of honours for schools in Noida, Gzb
DPS, NOIDA
CBSE organised the first ever STEM workshop in Gautam Budh Nagar District in DPS, Noida. STEM is a new method of teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to school students through experiential learning. The workshop was presided over by Dr. Amitabh Sharma, a champion in propagating STEM pedagogy. Over 60 teachers from various prominent schools of Delhi/ NCR participated in the workshop. In order for students to succeed in this new information–based and highly technological society, their capabilities need to be developed in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past. With this aim in mind, CBSE aspired to equip its teachers with a contextual, challenge based, solution-oriented, experiential learning curriculum called STEM emphasising on their role as a facilitator rather than an instructor. It was a highly enriching workshop which added to teachers’ knowledge and proved that science is everywhere in the world around us.
Principal Kaamini Bhasin, acknowledged the strength and significance of STEM learning and hopes that this multi-disciplinary approach boosts innovation and creativity amongst school-going children.
