GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person who allegedly called up the wife of a Special Judge posted in Ghaziabad and used foul language when she denied giving her bank details to him on Saturday.

The police said on a complaint on Saturday evening by the judge they registered an FIR under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) at Sihani Gate police station.

According to police, complainant’s wife received a call on her mobile phone around 11.30pm on Saturday and an unidentified man asked her to furnish bank details.

“When she denied, the person used abusive language. He had called up for knowing bank details for the purpose of cheating but she denied giving away any details. Such people cheat by way of withdrawing money after getting bank details. It is a sort of organised crime which should be investigated in detail,” the complaint given at the police station, said.

During probe, the police found that the mobile number and ID of the caller was registered in the name of a person who is stated to be from Giridih in the state of Jharkhand.

“The person had called up for the purpose of cheating and suspected to be a cyber fraud. There have been cases in which unidentified callers from such areas have taken bank details of people and committed cyber crimes. We have formed a team which will soon visit Jharkhand and also take help from the local police to nab the suspect,” said Umesh Bahadur Singh, SHO of Sihani Gate police station.
