MIDNAPORE: The police held a teenage boy late on Saturday for allegedly killing his seven-year-old neighbour as part of a suspected black magic ritual in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district, officials familiar with the matter said. According to deceased Rudra Nayak’s family, the boy went missing on Saturday afternoon. “My son went out to play but did not return home on time. When we started looking for him, someone told us that Rudra was seen entering the house of the accused. When we went there, we found him in a pool of blood.” The boy was taken to the Kharagpur State Hospital where he was declared dead, police officials said.

“We have detained the minor. Acting on allegation that black magic was practised at the house of the accused, we have detained seven other people,” said West Midnapore SP Dinesh Kumar . Speaking on condition of anonymity, a police officer aware of the matter said: “The accused told us that he had seen his family members do black magic and he tried to follow in their footsteps.”
