Minor sexually assaulted for over 2 years: Police

MALAPPURAM (KERALA): Two people have been arrested for being part of a group of 30 men who allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl in Kerala for over two years, police officials familiar with the matter said on Sunday.

The police was alerted by the Malappuram district child helpline after which they arrested two people on Saturday, the officials said and added that the duo have been remanded to judicial custody.

Speaking condition of anonymity, police officials familiar with the investigation said they were also probing if the minor girl’s father had a role to play in the case.

The girl has given her statement to the magistrate and has been shifted to a home, police said.
