Noida to get 400 KV new power house by the end of December
THE BHARAT HEAVY ELECTRICALS LIMITED (BHEL) HAS BEEN GIVEN THE CONTRACT TO INSTALL TWO TRANSFORMERS WITH A CAPACITY OF 500 MVA EACH IN THIS POWER HOUSE, OFFICIALS SAID
NOIDA: The city is set to get a new 400 KV power house in Sector 123 by the end of this month. Made by the Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL), it will not only provide power to Sector 63 sub-station, but also ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to 40,000 consumers residing in at least 10 sectors in Noida.
The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been given the contract to install two transformers with a capacity of 500 MVA each in this power house, officials said.
Virendra Nath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) chief engineer, said that the new power house will first provide power to 132 KV power sub-station in Sector 63.
“Consequently, all the eight blocks of power sub-station in Sector 63 will get electricity to ensure uninterrupted power supply to over 40,000 consumers, residing in the neighbouring areas,” he said.
Singh further said that the construction work for this power house had begun in 2015, but it could not be completed within stipulated time of two years due to some technical reasons.
“It was scheduled to be started in last week of November this year. But due to certain guidelines from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Environmental Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority on construction work to check pollution, it will start operation by December-end. The UPPTCL has been given the assignment to complete it in time,” the UPPCL chief engineer said.
Punit Gupta, UPPCL superintending engineer (transmission), said that BHEL has been awarded the contract to install two transformers of 500 Mvacapacity in the new power house.
“The new power house will start transmission of electricity to A and B blocks of 33KV power sub-station in Sector 63 in the first phase. In the next phase in March, the remaining six blocks of power sub-station will get electricity,” Gupta said.
