NOIDA: Three men, wanted in connection with a burglary on October 3 at an electronics service centre in Sector 15, were arrested by the Noida police on Monday. The police said that goods worth nearly ₹20 lakh were recovered.

The suspects were identified as Sanjay Arora and Sanjeev Kumar, both from Haryana, and Sukhwinder Singh, from Punjab. Police said they are allegedly part of an inter-state gang.

“A complaint had been filed by a Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Delhi, alleging that a burglary had taken place at his service centre of an electronics chain after breaking the lock and shutter. Almost 70 high-end cameras and other equipment had been stolen and a case of burglary had been registered at the Sector 20 police station,” said Vineet Jaiswal, superintendent of police (city).

The suspects were arrested during checking in Sector 15 and a Maruti A-star car, allegedly used on the night of the burglary, was recovered from them.

“We recovered 17 cameras, 25 lenses, five flashlight cameras, five LED cameras, seven camera chargers, batteries and four laptops. The goods are worth nearly ₹20 lakh,” said the SP.

Police said that the gang has allegedly been involved in burglaries in various states and that Arora has a criminal history going back to 2014. Police suspect that the men are involved in at least 100 cases across Gautam Budh Nagar district.

“They are part of a gang whose mastermind is serving time in Tihar jail. The gang was being run by Rajveer Singh Chauhan.

They would target big showrooms and do a recce , travelling in luxury vehicles. At night, they would break the shutters and take the goods in a getaway car. In several cases, they would take away the DVRS of the CCTV cameras as well, making it difficult to trace them,” said Jaiswal.

Police said that the arrested suspects allegedly sold the stolen goods in other states either via e-platforms or in open markets.

“The car that we recovered was used in the recce of the October

3 incident. Arora and two absconding accomplices, Chauhan and Sachin, had carried out the burglary in which they had used a Honda CRV car. The other two helped Arora in selling the goods,” said the SP. The suspects were produced before a magistrate and later sent to jail.

In a separate incident, two, who allegedly used to rob vehicles and mobile phones, were arrested by the Sector 24 police Sunday night from near the Sector 12-22 crossing.
