NOIDA: The house of a 20-year-old human resources professional in sector 44 was burgled by unidentified people on Sunday morning while she was out for two hours. A case has been registered at the sector 39 police station.

The police identified the victim as Aarti, who stays alone in a house on the second floor of a three-storey building in sector 44.

The victim could not be reached for a comment, but in her complaint she has alleged that the burglary occurred when she had gone out to play badminton for about two hours on Sunday morning.

“I had gone downstairs around 10am to play badminton in a park nearby. When I came back around 12 noon, I saw that the lock of my house had been broken. Inside, all the rooms had been ransacked and my laptop and two phones along with the charger were gone,” wrote the woman in her police complaint.

Based on her complaint, a case was registered against the unidentified persons at the sector 39 police station under sections 380 and 454 of the IPC.

Neighbours of the woman said that there are no CCTV cameras in the building.

“We have now asked the landlord to install cameras. What’s surprising is that the whole thing went down in a couple of hours in broad daylight. None of the neighbours heard or saw anything. The lock, it seems, had been broken with the help of a wooden stick,” said Mohit, a neighbour.

He said that Aarti, who had moved into the house only five months back, didn’t have much cash or other valuables in the houses and had taken her wallet with her when she went out.

“That is why only the electronic items were taken. Some one must have been watching the building closely and monitoring the comings and goings of the occupants,” he said.

Police officials said that a probe in the matter is underway.

“There are no CCTV cameras in the area but we will work out the case soon. Due legal action will be taken and investigation has been taken up,” said Neeraj Malik, station house officer, sector 39 police station.
