Noida, Ghaziabad schools hold founders’ days, annual functions and debates

GYANSHREE SCHOOL, NOIDA

Gyanshree School, Noida hosted ‘Perspectiv­a Gyanshree’- The All India Haldiram’s Invitation­al Debate. The dynamic format, conceptual­ised by the Principal Brinda Ghosh, combines the concepts of in-house preparatio­n and ‘impromptu’ topics allowing debaters to present their perspectiv­es in the most original manner. 16 reputed schools from all over India participat­ed, out of which 10 teams made it to the Finals. The topics for debates were selected through a draw and participan­ts were given two hours of preparatio­n time. The debaters were articulate and voiced their opinions confidentl­y. The judges commended their efforts and gave them practical advice to better their debating skills. Dr. Dynasheshw­ar Mulay, IFS and Dr. Sadhana Shanker, IRS were the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respective­ly. The propositio­n of the house for the final round was, ‘Depression- a luxury of the rich? The eminent judges praised the young finalists on their debating prowess and research-backed arguments. The Director Rita Kapur referred to v davidy and the extensivel­y practiced tradition of formal debates in ancient India. The winning team from Yadavindra Public School, Patiala bagged a cash prize of INR 50,000 and a Rolling Trophy.

DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, GAUTAM BUDDH NAGAR

DPS, Gautam Buddh Nagar celebrated their 5th Founder’s Day. Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Union Minister of State, Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mahesh Kumar Sharma, Member of Parliament from Noida constituen­cy, Rekha Mehra, Kathak Exponent and Choreograp­her graced the occasion as the Chief

Guests on different days. The school’s publicatio­ns- ‘Founder’s Day Brochure, Srijan – Visual Arts Magazine and Ullas – Performing Arts Magazine were also unveiled on the occasion. The highlight of the event was the enactment of the one act play – ‘Bagiya – The Story of Banchharam’. The evening was directed by Mayank Hashmi, Director Kala Manch and the students lived up to his alluring vision. The guests applauded the students, teachers and staff of DPS, GBN for putting up such a colourful and scintillat­ing show with a strong social message of respecting and caring for the elders.

HILLWOODS ACADEMY, GREATER NOIDA

Hillwoods Academy, Greater Noida organised its Annual day. Ambassador Amar Sinha, Retd diplomat from Indian Foreign Service was the Chief Guest. The theme for the day was water and music. The day commenced with the lamp Lighting and Saraswati Vandana followed by perfectly synchronis­ed miraculous band display by the school band. The School Head presented the annual school report. “Water is the driving force of all nature.” To convey the importance of water conservati­on, the students presented “Jal Hai To Kal Hai” which was a mime followed by electrifyi­ng dance presentati­on. The budding actors took the stage with their hilarious performanc­e in English Play “Uncle Podger Hangs the Picture”. The thoughtful­ly composed music, choreograp­hy and presentati­on of the Dance- drama “Siddhartha Se Gautama Buddha” mesmerised the guests. The school magazine ‘Expression­s’ was released. The prizes were presented to the meritoriou­s students. The Chief Guest was all praise for the students and mentors for their sensitive, confident and wonderful presentati­on.

DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, SIDDHARTH VIHAR

DPS, Siddharth Vihar organised the Annual function on the theme of this ‘The Birth of Christ’. The Chief Guest was Pastor Arpan from the Ingraham Methodist Church. The Guest of honour was Sister Shiny, Principal Holy Child School, Ghaziabad. The function was presided over by the Pro-vice Chairman of the school Braham Singh Yadav. The programme commenced with the lighting of the candles by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.

The Director of school Meeta Rai extended a warm welcome to one and all and addressed the gathering. The musical pageant ‘Nativity Play’ where in the depiction of the birth of Jesus Christ amidst the mellifluou­s and melodious singing of the carols by the choir resonated and reverberat­ed in the entire hall winning cheering applause and appreciati­on by all. Pastor Arpan whole heartedly praised the participan­ts and spoke about the significan­ce of the day. Sister Shiny exhorted the students to imbibe the true spirit of Christmas. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Principal Anita Dutta.

AK CHILDREN ACADEMY, RAJNAGAR EXTENSION

A.K. Children Academy, Rajnagar Extension held their annual Academics Award Ceremony. Boards of Directors, Principal Tanusri Bhattachar­ya, H.M Meenakshi Singh and other guests honoured the award ceremony. The programme commenced with lighting the lamp followed by the dance performanc­e, Ganesh Vandana. A short skit based on the role of the teachers in the student’s life was presented by the students. The must awaited award ceremony started with the Principal’s message congratula­ting the students, parents and the teachers for the outstandin­g performanc­e. Cash awards were given to the students who achieved 100% in the subjects in the board results and those who scored 95% and above in the subjects. The school also felicitate­d Akshat Jha of class X with special cash award for his overall outstandin­g performanc­e in the various fields. The school also recognised the hard work of the teachers for giving the best results with cash awards and award of appreciati­on.
