NEW DELHI: A 54-year-old meat shop owner was stabbed and robbed of a bag containing ₹60,000 allegedly by four motorcycle-borne assailants, in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh on Thursday night.

The businessman suffered stab wounds in his hand. Police said during the incident the suspects also fired bullets at his car in which he was travelling with his brother and three employees.

Nobody was injured in the firing, the police added.

A senior police officer said a case was registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station and that they were investigating the case from robbery as well as personal enmity angle. At least three teams are working on the case. The injured businessman has been identified as Allauddin, a resident of Sadar Bazar in north Delhi.

Deputy commissioner of police (west) Deepak Purohit said that the incident was brought to their notice through a call received at the Punjabi Bagh police station.

A police team reached the spot near Ashoka Park Main Metro station and found a Maruti Eeco van parked on the roadside. The injured occupant had been shifted to a nearby hospital.

Allauddin, in his statement, said he runs a meat shop in Madipur. Around 9.30 pm, he along with his brother Zahiruddin and employees – Sabir, Hussain, and Shokat – left for their homes in the van after closing the shop.

“They were near the Ashoka Main Metro station when four men on two bikes waylaid their car and opened fire. One of the assailants opened the side door of the car and stabbed Allauddin in his hand. The assailants picked up the cash bag from the car and fled on their bikes,” said the DCP.
