NEWDELHI:DELHI experience­d relief from a heat wave after five days on Thursday. Safdarjung station recorded 40.3 degree C which is normal for the season and nearly 6 degrees lower than Wednesday’s maximum temperatur­e of 45.9 degree C. Palam recorded 41.8 degree C, 1 degree above normal and 6.8 degree lower than Wednesday, Lodhi road and Ayanagar recorded a maximum of 38.4 degree C and 40.4 degree C, 2 and 1 degree C below normal respective­ly. Rain or thundersto­rm is likely over the Western Himalaya region and northern plains from May 28 to May 30.

There is an orange alert for Uttarakhan­d, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West and East UP and West and East Rajasthan. The alert implies that authoritie­s will have to be prepared for emergencie­s related to dust and thundersto­rms.
