FOUR HELD FOR ROBBING MONEY TRANSITION AGENT IN G NOIDA

The Ecotech III police on Thursday arrested four suspects allegedly robbing a money transition agent of ₹1.6 lakh last year. According to police, the suspects had allegedly snatched a cash bag from the victim, Amar Singh, and fled on a motorcycle.

Harish Chander, deputy commission­er of police, Noida Central, said that the victim is a resident of Suthiyana village and runs a money transition shop in the neighbourh­ood. Late on December 8, 2020 he was returning home with a cash bag along with his two daughters, aged 13 and 11 years, when the incident took place. “Three suspects reached the spot on a motorcycle and held Singh at gunpoint. They took the cash bag and also the children’s school bag from Singh,” Chander said.

A money transition agent is one who facilitate­s monetary dealings between people such as withdrawal­s or internet banking, for a commission.

The victim informed the police and a case was registered under Section 392 (robbery).

Bhuvnesh Kumar, SHO, Ecotech III police station, said the police launched a probe. “We noticed a sudden change in the lifestyle of some local youths. They started partying almost every day and spending money lavishly,” he said.

The police picked up Deepak, 25, one of the suspects and interrogat­ed him in connection with the case. “Deepak ran a dairy shop in the village. He admitted his involvemen­t in the crime. He said that he had conducted a recee and shared the informatio­n with the three other suspects, who robbed the victim that day,” the SHO said.

On Thursday, the three others were held from Kulesara Pusta road. They were identified as Alok Kumar, 23, a from Chatarpur in MP, Shubham, 24, a resident of Dhaulana in Hapur and Sunil Shukla, 25, a resident of Gorakhpur.

Police recovered ₹82,000 of stolen money, a chequebook, a passbook, an Aadhaar card, a countrymad­e gun, two live cartridges, three knives, a stolen car and a motorcycle from their possession. The four suspects were produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
