At least 11 killed in crash in Karnataka

At least 11 people were killed and several wounded in a road accident in Karnataka’s Dharwad district when a minibus carrying members of a women’s club headed for a vacation in Goa had a head-on collision with a truck. District officials said the accident took place on National Highway 4 near Itigatti village and that most of the victims belong to a women’s club in Davangere and were travelling in a minibus to Panaji in Goa for a holiday. At least 10 of the women died along with the driver of the truck in what officials described as a “head-on collision” early on Friday morning. Five women are said to be seriously injured apart from two others in the tipper truck suffered minor injuries.
