STUDENT KILLED, FRIEND INJURED IN ACCIDENT IN GREATER NOIDA

GREATER NOIDA: A 23-year-old B.ED student died while her classmate was injured when a cab allegedly hit their twowheeler in Greater Noida on Thursday. They were rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared Manju Nagar dead while Neha, 22, is recovering.

Manju was a resident of Roja Jalalpur village while Neha is a resident of Bisrakh. They were B.ED students at Sharda University. Manju’s uncle Nagendra said she left home on her twowheeler for her varsity. “She picked upher friend. Near NASA roundabout, a cab from the wrong side hit them,” he said.

Police took them to a hospital where Manju was declared brought dead. Police detained the driver and seized the car. The passenger in the cab told police the driver was allegedly talking on the phone.

Varun Pawar, SHO, Knowledge Park, said they have not received a complaint. “The family was busy with last rites. We will register a case once complaint is filed,” he said.

Ajit Kumar, a spokespers­on for the varsity said: “At present, classes are not held and there is no compulsion for students to visit the campus. We are looking into the matter.”
