Kozhikode plane crash report delayed

-

The final probe report into the crash of the Air India Express aircraft at Kerala’s Kozhikode airport in August last year — in which 20 passengers died — that was due for submission in January this year will be delayed by two months, officials said on Wednesday. An order by the ministry of civil aviation, reviewed by HT, has granted two month’s extension to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), the regulatory body in charge of the investigation. “Due to COVID pandemic, there is a delay being experienced in the Test Reports of components and an extension of two months has been granted for submission of draft final report...,” the order said. The Vande Bharat flight AIX 1344 from Dubai that was bringing back Indians who were stranded abroad due to the Covid-19 pandemic, crashed while landing at Kozhikode airport’s table top runway on August 8, 2020, breaking the Boeing 737 jet into two.
