Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Nripendra Misra, on Friday approved the new design for the temple’s foundation that will now involve the use of stones instead of pillars, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said. “The Ram temple foundation’s new design is being prepared in Mumbai. The printed copies will be available for engineers in Ayodhya the next month,” Champat Rai, general secretary of the Trust said after a meeting of the construction committee and the Trust. The design was reworked after loose sand was found in the area, prompting experts to rule out putting up pillars. According to the initial plan, 1,200 pillars were to be laid. Now, the temple’s foundation will be laid with stones. The revised design has been vetted by engineers of Larsen and Toubro, Tata Consulting Engineers and Chandrakant Sompura, the architect, said Rai.
