App for waste mgmt in G Noida

-

NOIDA: Now, a mobile application will help monitor and manage waste in Greater Noida, helping improve cleanliness. The Greater Noida authority has taken help from a central government agency – National Informatics Centre (NIC) – to make this mobile app, which will help the authority implement the waste management rules 2016.

“It will work on a Gis-enabled module and help in capturing the real-time location of a facility that deals with waste management. This app is to monitor bulk waste generators, who need to follow rules and handle waste produced by them on their own at the premises. The app will help in identifying those which flout the rules, as well,” said Deep Chandar, additional CEO of the Greater Noida authority.

The authority imposes penalty against bulk waste generators such as group housing complexes, hospitals, hotels, schools, colleges, industrial units and others for not treating waste on their own. “We will ask all bulk waste generators to upload data related to waste segregation, collection, handling and treatment on to the app, after which our teams from the health department will visit the site and validate the uploaded data. If the validation confirms that the rules are being followed then there will not be any penalty. On finding violations, however, we will act against the offenders,” he said. “Even if we manage only bulk waste generators, handling the city’s waste will become a lot easier,” he added.
