PAWAR TARGETS CENTRE AT FARM RALLY IN MUMBAI

-

MUMBAI: Backing farmers agitating against the three new farm laws, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said the central government passed the laws without any discussion in Parliament, adding, “farmers have the power to uproot political leaders who have been acting arrogantly.”

Thousands of farmers and farm labourers from 21 districts across Maharashtra held a sit-in at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan on Monday, protesting against the laws and showing solidarity with farmers at Delhi’s borders.

The farmers also tried to march towards the governor’s house but were stopped by the police. The farmers had come from districts such as Nashik, Dhule, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon and Aurangabad. Some of them walked as far as 200km.
