Modi lauds Rashtriya Bal Puraskar awardees
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday virtually honoured 32 children who received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) and urged them to keep striving for better results. The awardees are from 32 districts of 21 States/ Union territories.
“Seven awards have been given in the field of Art & Culture, 9 awards have been given for Innovation and 5 for scholastic achievements. Seven children have won in Sports category, 3 children have been felicitated for Bravery and one child has been honoured for her efforts in the field of Social Service,” the govandarpur ernment said in a press statement.
Jyoti Kumari has been awarded for her bravery as she cycled to her home Darbhanga district in Bihar from Gurgaon in Haryana covering around 1,200 km with her father on the rear carrier amid Covid-19 lockdown.
“She might seem like any other girl of her age, but the courage and strength that she displayed by covering 1,200 km on a bicycle, that too with her ailing father on the rear seat, cannot be described in words.” “During the Covid-19 lockdown, she traversed 1,200 km from Sikin Haryana to Darbhanga in Bihar to reach home,” the citation issued for her by the ministry of women and child development said.
Mohammad Shadab, 17, from Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, won the award for his excellence in the field of scholastics.
He is an Indian Youth Ambassador to the US. “He won a scholarship of USD 28,000 from the United States Department of State for his brilliant mind and efforts to improve the world and topped his American high school,” his citation said.he has given more than 50 presentations to promote Indian culture and values.
