Journalists, Oppn leaders slam FIR against 3 UP scribes for reporting plight of school children

KANPUR: Journalists and some opposition leaders have criticised the move by the Kanpur Dehat administration , which registered an FIR against three journalists late Tuesday evening. The journalists had shared on their social media accounts videos of children performing yoga at Uttar Pradesh Foundation Day function without any winter wear despite biting cold. “The case was lodged against three journalists--mohit, Amit and Yasin on the complaint of Basic Shiksha Adhikari Sunit Dutt,” Sho(akbarpur)said. The Kanpur Press Club has decided to gherao the commissioner, Kanpur division on January 29 against what it termed as intimidatory tactics on the part of the Kanpur Dehat administration. The Congress’ UP in-charge Priyanka Gandhi also tweeted that the UP government wanted the journalists to become its spokespersons.
