Expectations

The biggest expectation of the Union budget was that it will increase public spending and strengthen infrastructure, and also raise viability gap funding. The government should provide subsided loans and land, and single window approval systems to encourage more investment in the health sector. There should be more funding for research and development and strengthening already established institutions

OUTCOME

The allocation of ₹35,000 crores for Covid-19 vaccine for this financial year is heart-warming and her {finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s} assurance of further allocation is music to my ears. Also, the increase in the healthcare outlay by 137% will help improve health-care infrastructure in the country manifold. The most significant announcement in the budget is the Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana.
