Covid-19 has led to an increase in allotment fo health and family welfare compared to budge estimates in FY 21, but will be lower than RE in 2021-22. But, outside these ministries, the government has allocated Rs 35,000 crore for Covid-19 vaccines, almost half (47%) of the ministry’s budget in 2021-22 and factored in the substantially higher (compared to previous budget estimates) spending on drinking water and sanitation, and finance commission grants on health, water and sanitation.
