POLICE ARRESTED ANKIT ON THE BASIS OF CCTV FOOTAGE IN WHICH HE WAS SEEN WITH HIS SISTER LAST BEFORE SHE DISAPPEARED

MEERUT: Police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly murdering his 24-yearold sister. They said he wanted to frame the murder on the family of a Dalit teenage girl who accused him and his cousin of raping her in January.

Amroha superintendent of police (SP) Suniti said the accused Ankit Choudhary had confessed to the murder.

Police said they also recovered Ankit’s dead sister’s bloodstained clothes, shoes and cap on his identification.

The dead woman was identified as Neha Chaudhary, an MBA graduate, who worked with a Noida-based private firm. She stayed at a rented room in Delhi’s west Laxminagar locality, the police added.

As per the SP, three teams were formed to solve the case.

SP Suniti said police teams arrested Ankit on the basis of CCTV footage in which he was seen with his sister last before she disappeared.

The Dalit girl’s family had lodged a case of gangrape against Ankit and his cousin

Akshay Chaudhary.

The girl had disappeared from her home on January 14 and her family members lodged a case of kidnapping against Ankit and his cousin Akshay in Didauli police station Amroha district on January 18.

The girl returned two days later and accused Ankit and his cousin of gang-raping her.

Meanwhile, SP Suniti also sent sub-inspector (S-I) Muzammil to police lines and ordered a departmental inquiry against him for not handing over the case to the circle office, which is mandatory as per the SC/ ST Act.

Muzammil has been charged with keeping the file with him for 20 days after adding sections of SC/ ST and POCSO Acts and not initiating any action against the accused.
