Facing loss of ₹1.8cr a day at toll plazas due to farm stir: Govt in LS

NEW DELHI: Public-funded toll plazas on highways are facing an estimated loss of ₹1.8 crore per day because of the farm protests, the Centre told Parliament on Thursday. “Due to the farmers’ protest, some of the fee plazas are non-operational; thereby NHAI is unable to collect user fee from the road users,” transport minister Nitin Gadkari said in a written response to a question in the LS by BJP MP PC Gaddigoudar. He added that the estimated daily loss to toll plazas was ₹1.8 crore.
