Man acquitted of rape charges

GREATERŇNOIDA:Ň A local court on Thursday acquitted a 25-year-old man of rape and abetment to suicide on Thursday following the death of the woman in 2018.

That year, the 21-year-old woman had allegedly taken her life. Her mother had alleged that the man, her colleague at a garment factory in sector 63, had raped and harassed her daughter. The complaint was registered at Noida Phase 3 police station.

“Additional District Judge Niranjan Kumar has acquitted the accused Santosh of charges under IPC sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 376 (rape). Order was delivered on Thursday,” said JP Bhati, special public prosecution officer.
