NOIDA: In its efforts to secure a spot in the top five cities in the Union government’s cleanliness survey, the Noida authority has sought the support of citizens.

The Swachhta Survey-2021 takes “citizen feedback” as part of its ranking methodology, carrying 30% weight to the overall score.

“Noida has improved its waste management system and doing better on all fronts -- from garbage collection and segregation to treatment,” said Ritu Maheshwari, the authority’s chief executive officer (CEO) at a media briefing on Tuesday.

The survey will likely begin next month, she said.

The Union ministry of housing and urban affairs sends a team every year to cities across the country to collect data on

several points, talk to citizens and verify authorities’ claims.

“We have enforced waste management rules, sought support from residents and bulk waste generators so that we can segregate, collect and treat the waste. We have built community

toilets, start mechanical sweeping, beautified garbage sites, start making compost out of green waste and taken other steps. We hope to improve the score this way,” said a Noida Authority official not authorised to speak to media.
