Cong demands rollback of ‘excess tax’ on petrol, diesel

NEW DELHI: Congress on Tuesday demanded that the additional excise burden on petrol and diesel must be withdrawn immediately, alleging that the NDA government has “looted” over ₹20 lakh crore over the last 6 years and 8 months. “Over the last six years, the excise burden on the common people rose by ₹ 23.78 per litre on petrol and by ₹ 28.37 per litre on diesel – 820% on diesel and 258% on petrol,” Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said.
