GREATER NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) on Thursday said it will launch a residential and industrial plot scheme on February 20.

Under the scheme, residential plots will be available in sectors 18, 20 and 22D, among other areas. Industrial plots will be offered in sectors 29, 32 and others.

“We will allot these residential and industrial plots via a lucky draw after applicants submit their forms within the stipulated time frame. The lucky draw will be carried out in March-end,” said Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of the Yeida.

Officials said the scheme is intended for those looking for small plots in the two categories.

Residential plots will be available in sizes of 60 square metres (sqm), 90 sqm, 300 sqm and a few plots of 4,000 sqm.

The industrial plots to be offered will be 450 sqm, 800 sqm, 1,200 sqm, 3,000 sqm and 4,000 sqm, said officials.

“The maximum size of the industrial plots will be 4,000 sqm. We have offered mostly small-sized plots in the industrial scheme – of 450 or 800 sqm – as investors had asked for these. Similarly, we are catering to residents who want to purchase 60, 90, 120 and 150 sqm-sized plots around the

Jewar airport site,” said Singh.

The Noida International Airport is scheduled to come up in Jewar along the 165-km Yamuna Expressway.

The authority has been encouraging development around the site, with residential, commercial and industrial schemes being planned near the airport site.

The number of the plots to be offered will be 1,000 for the residential scheme and 1,000 under the industrial scheme, said officials. Details such as how many plots will be available for which plot size will be provided in a brochure to be released Saturday.

The rate for industrial plots is ₹6,700 per sqm and for residential plots it is ₹16,400 per sqm.

Tentatively, the last date to apply for the plots is March 25, 2021, said officials.

After submission of forms and scrutiny, the authority will carry out the lucky draw under the supervision of a committee, said officials.

We will offer mostly small plots in the industrial scheme as many had asked for these. For residential, we are going to offer 60, 150, 300 sqm plots. ARUN VIR SINGH,

NEW DELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday provided financial assistance of ₹1 crore each to the families of two more Covid front-line workers, who had died of the disease after contracting it in the line of duty. With this, the total number of families to have received the compensation is now 39.

As part of another scheme being run by the Delhi government, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday provided financial assistance amounting to ₹3.18 crore to 488 construction workers in the city.

Kejriwal on Thursday went to meet the families of Om Pal Singh, principal of the government boys’ senior secondary school Kalyanpuri, who had died of Covid-19 after having conpal tracted it while working in one of the hunger relief centres. He then visited the family of Raj Kumar, a security guard at the Rajiv Gandhi hospital, who had also died of Covid-19.

“The past one year has been tough on all of us. But during this one year, amid the pandemic, our Covid warriors fought the battle from the front for the people of Delhi. Today, I visited the families of late Om Singh and Raj Kumar and handed over cheques of ₹1 crore each to their kin. The loss that these families have suffered is insurmountable, but I hope this financial assistance will bring them some relief,” Kejriwal said.

The Delhi government on Thursday expedited the process of disbursing claims to 488 construction workers, granting them ₹3.18 crore under various schemes. Sisodia, who is also the city’s labour minister, handed over cheques to construction workers present at an event at the Delhi Secretariat.

“The labour department has streamlined the way funds are disbursed under the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. Disbursements and aid earlier used to get stuck, but the Delhi government has now expedited this entire process,” Sisodia said.

JAMMU/SRINAGAR: A group of 24 foreign envoys visiting Jammu and Kashmir to assess the ground situation said they “could see a visible change” and that “development is happening”, according to officials privy to their luncheon meet with lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha in Jammu on Thursday.

The envoys, including European Union ambassador Ugo Astuto and diplomats of key European states such as French envoy Emmanuel Lenain and Italian envoy Vincenzo de Luca, began a two-day visit to the union territory on Wednesday. This is the third group of diplomats to be taken to the region since January last year.

Presenting a vote of thanks on behalf of the envoys, Eritrean ambassador Alem Tsehaye Woldemariam said, “We can see a visible change in Jammu and Kashmir.”

“The envoys felt very happy over the development, which has started happening in Jammu and Kashmir. They expressed their gratitude to the union government for presenting them an opportunity to visit the region,” said an official.

The envoys showed keen interest in the situation and had many questions on the development model and plans of the government for the next two years, the officials said.

Sinha told the envoys that years of suffering for the people ended on August 5, 2019 with the scrapping of region’s special status. He said the prime minister’s efforts had “ushered the union territory into a new era of socioeconomic development and empowerment of the people”.

“The Central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has drawn up excellent ideas and initiatives for industrialisation, even in far flung areas of the union territory so that more jobs can be created for our youth,” Sinha said.

The envoys later met administrative secretaries and were briefed on developmental and welfare schemes. Earlier, the envoys met chief justice Pankaj Mithal soon after their arrival in Jammu at around noon.

Before their departure from

Srinagar, the envoys were briefed by senior army and police officials at Badami Bagh cantonment on the security situation and Pakistan’s role in running terror camps across the Line of Control. They were informed about Pakistan’s efforts to fuel terror in Kashmir by using trans-border tunnels, drones and narco-terrorism.

Lt Gen BS Raju, general officer commanding of Chinar Corps and Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar were among the officials who briefed the envoys.

On being asked about various terror groups, Raju said, “It is a clear message that Pakistansponsored elements do not want a change to the status quo. Any activity that leads to normalisation of the situation is opposed.”
