NTPC starts disbursal of compensation to families of deceased Tapovan workers

NTPC Ltd has started releasing compensation to families of Tapovan workers, who lost their lives in Uttarakhand natural disaster even as rescue operation continue in full swing. NTPC is extending a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the immediate family of the contract labourers engaged in construction of NTPC project. The State and Central Govts have separately announced compensation package of Rs 4 lakh and Rs 2 lakh, respectively. The first cheque of Rs 20 lakh was handed over to Vimala Devi, wife of late Narendra Ji of Tapovan Vihar on February 15. A team from NTPC led by R P Ahirwar, Head of Tapovan Project, visited Vimala Devi at her house recently.
