The Abruzzi Spur/ South East ridge

This route was first attempted by the Italian Duke of Abruzzi, Prince Luigi Amedeo, in 1909. It is the most popular route up the mountain and was the route taken by the first Italian team to ascent the mountain, in 1954. The Nepalese team followed this route through most of their way to the top of K2 in January.
