NOIDA: The Noida authority on Sunday appealed to residents, social groups and all stakeholders for support in the upcoming Swachh Survey 2021, which seeks feedback from them to rank a city.

Residents need to answer eight questions online on www.swachhsurvekshan2021.org.

“The citizens’ feedback about this survey accounts at least 30% of the total marks. Therefore, their feedback submitted online will make a huge difference. We are appealing to citizens to visit the website and give their suggestions. We are also interacting with residents via our events such as plogging, under which we clean one locality every week,” said SC Mishra, senior manager of the Noida authority.

The questions that need to be answered are whether you are aware of the rank of your city, how many marks and what rank would one give to their city, are you being asked to segregate your waste, are you aware of public toilets and awareness about apps to file complaints about sanitation, among others.

Noida was ranked 25th in the Swachh Survekshan 2020 in the 10 lakh population cities category across the country. In Uttar Pradesh, Noida was ranked as the cleanest city. However, the authority has taken a pledge to perform better, said officials.

In December last year, in order to improve the city’s rankings on cleanliness index, the Noida authority had appealed to residents to make short movies, jingles and wall paintings.

The move was aimed at making sure residents participate in Swachhta campaign, share their ideas and do their bit to make a change in perception of the general public, officials had said, adding that the authority would also give lucrative prizes for interesting initiatives.

“We have called upon Noida residents to participate and come forward for ‘Noida Swachh Citizens’ contest. They can participate through jingles, movie visuals, street paintings, and attractive prizes will follow,” Ritu Maheshwari, CEO of Noida authority, had said.

CHENNAI: Union defence minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that the disengagement process between India and China is complete “after nine rounds of military and diplomatic talks.”

While speaking at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’S youth conference in Salem district in poll-bound Tamil Nadu, Singh said: “As defence minister I have to tell you about what is happening in the India-china standoff.”

He added: “After nine rounds of talks, a scenario favourable to us has happened. The Congress alleges that we have ceded the Indian territory but as long I’ve my blood and life in this body, we will never cede even an inch to any country. The country will not allow any ‘unilateral action’ on our border by anyone. We will not keep quiet. After nine rounds of diplomatic and military talks, disengagement is complete.”

The standoff between the neighbouring countries erupted last May and witnessed the deployment of 50,000 troops each from both sides. Senior military commanders of the Indian army and the China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have held several rounds of meetings in eastern Ladakh to discuss disengagement of their troops along the contested Line of Actual Control (LAC).

“I want to give you the confidence that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi India unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty will never be compromised,” Singh said.
