MAN GETS DEATH FOR MINOR’S RAPE AND MURDER IN 7-YEAR-OLD CASE

KANPUR: A district court in Hardoi awarded death penalty to a man in a seven-year-old case related to rape and murder a two-year-old girl.

Additional district and sessions judge Chandra Vijay Srinate termed the crime as rarest of rare and imposed a fine of ₹100,000 on the accused, who was present in the court.

The family members of the victim expressed happiness. The father said he waited for seven years to get justice for his daughter. The father had lodged an FIR on March 17, 2014 that he saw the accused taking his daughter way who was playing outside the house around 8 pm. During the search her body was found in a pond two hours later. Post mortem report had confirmed rape and injuries on other parts of body and that she was strangulat­ed to death.

Dalit girl raped, 2 held

A 16-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by two men in Mahoba, following which two accused were arrested, police said on Monday. The incident took place on Friday night. Two men forcibly took her to a secluded place and allegedly raped her, SHO Sunil Kumar Tiwari said. The girl later narrated her ordeal to her elder sister who filed a police complaint, the SHO said.the girl was sent for a medical examinatio­n.
