Now, pay less for no check-in luggage
Domestic flight operators will be allowed to give concessions in ticket prices to passengers travelling without check-in luggage, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a circular on Friday. The move was taken as the government decided to unbundle certain services and make them chargeable on an opt-in basis, as per passengers’ feedback. Elaborating on the new rule, DGCA director general Arun Kumar said, “As part of airline baggage policy, scheduled airlines will be allowed to offer free baggage allowance as well as zero baggage/no check-in baggage fares”. This will be subject to the condition that passengers booking tickets under such the scheme are made aware of the charges that shall be applicable if they turned up with baggage.
