Karnal tested positive for Covid-19, forcing school authorities to suspend classes and other academic activities, an official said on Tuesday. Three students of Sainik School Kunjpura tested positive on Monday, following which the tests of all students and staff members were conducted by the health department, officials said. School authorities said the infected students are in the age group of 14 to 17 and study in classes of 9 to 12 and over 50 are asymptomatic and only a few of them have exhibited symptoms of lowgrade fever. Karnal deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said that 78 people which included 54 students tested positive on Tuesday. He said school authorities have been alerted and affected blocks have been declared containment zones.
