COPS GET A WEEK TO REPLY TO NIKITA JACOB’S BAIL PLEA
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Tuesday granted one week’s time to the Delhi Police to respond to the anticipatory bail plea by social activist and lawyer Nikita Jacob, a co-accused along with Disha Ravi in the toolkit case.
The two women, along with co-accused, Shantanu Muluk, have been charged with sedition for creating and sharing a toolkit on social media related to the ongoing farmers’ protest against the three contentious farm laws of the Centre.
Additional sessions judge Dharmender Rana allowed the police to file their response by March 9, after public prosecutor Irfan Ahmed, appearing for the police, said the force needed time to file a detailed reply to Jacob’s plea.
The court is scheduled to hear the anticipatory bail plea by Muluk on March 9 as well.
Jacob had obtained a transit anticipatory bail from Bombay high court on February 17 for three weeks.
