NEW DELHI: The ministry of home affairs has ordered a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the February 17 blast in Murshidabad’s Nimita railway station, in which West Bengal’s deputy labour minister Jakir Hossain and 22 Trinamool Congress leaders were injured. The state hasn’t handed over the probe to the NIA yet.

MEERUT : The body of a 12-yearold girl was found buried at a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahar district on Tuesday. Police said they are suspecting it to be a case of murder after rape.

According to police, the girl went to collect fodder with her mother and elder sister on the outskirts of the village on February 28. She went to a nearby house, which was deserted, in search of water and did not return, police said.

Her mother and sister searched for her and thought she might have gone home and they also returned. When they could not find the girl, they lodged a complaint of missing person on February 28, said police.

SSP of Bulandshahar Santosh Kumar Singh said the police teams visited the house of the suspect on Monday but it was locked. Police then reached to his father, who is a labourer, who told them that the suspect had arrived in the village three days ago, but he didn’t know where he was.

Police searched his house and spotted wet soil in a corner inside. When they dug the soil, they found the body of the missing girl, said police.

The SSP said prima facie it seems a case of murder after sexual assault.

“The post mortem report would reveal the actual cause of death,” said Singh.
