Doc-on-call service for home isolated patients from today
THE AUTHORITY HAS TIED UP WITH INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (IMA), NOIDA, TO START THIS SERVICE AMID THE COVID CRISIS.
With an aim to provide medical assistance to Covidpositive patients via video calls, the Noida authority has decided to start a “doctor-oncall” project from May 1. The move came in view of Covid-19 patients suffering because of unavailability of beds, oxygen cylinders, and other key facilities in city hospitals.
The authority has decided to begin this facility so that these patients can connect with the doctors via video calls and get treatment — for any health issue — at home to an extent if their conditions are not that
bad, said the officials.
“The facility of doctor-on-call
will be free, and the patients can connect with the doctors from 10am to 6pm,” said Santosh Upadhyay, officer on special duty, Noida authority. The patients can contact the doctors on this number: 0120-2425301.
The doctor-on-call service will be available from Monday to Saturday. The authority has tied up with the Indian Medical
Association (IMA), Noida chapter, to start this service.
It has also arranged physicians, ophthalmologists, gynecologists, psychiatrists, orthopaedics, and paediatricians among others. The operators, attending the calls, will connect suitable doctors with the patients.
According to the officials, on Mondays — physician Dr NK Sharma will be available from 2 pm to 5 pm, ophthalmologist Dr Mohita Sharma from 2 pm to 3 pm, gynecologist Dr Mamta Sahu from 12 pm to 2 pm, psychiatrist Dr RK Bansal from 2 am to 4 pm, orthopaedician Dr SS Rawat from 5 pm to 6 pm, and pediatrician Dr SP Sharma from 5 pm to 6 pm. Other physicians like Dr Naman Sharma will talk to the patients from 5 pm to 6 pm, Dr Prakash Jain from 2 pm to 3 pm, and Dr Jyoti Khanna from 9 am to 12 pm — from Monday to Saturday.
“The facility of doctor-on-call is the need of the hour because the patients are unable to get treatment as hospitals are failing to handle pressure amid the coronavirus crisis. With this service, patients will be able to get right medical assistance at home,” said Yogendra Sharma, president, federation of Noida residents’ welfare association (FONRWA) — an umbrella body of residents’ welfare associations (RWAS).
