‘NEP 2020 Aims to Transform India's Education System’

-

The NEP, as it is known, is a comprehensive framework for elementary education to higher education as well as vocational training in both rural and urban India. The policy aims to transform India's education system. The NEP 2020 lays stress on the importance of mother tongue. It also shifts from 10+2 structure to "5+3+3+4" wherein the last four years of schooling Grades 9,10,11,12, are intended to inculcate multidisciplinary study that would encourage critical thinking. It also says that there will be more options in the choice of subjects which is a very interesting step that gives students more options and a choice of subjects

that was not possible until now. As a Principal, I welcome the move to bring in vocational education

Scan the code for all the latest updates from Class 6. This will be of great help to students who are not cut out for rote learning. But what about the use of mother tongue as the language of instruction or the medium of learning. In a country with such diversity, is this really feasible? No matter how much we give importance to mother tongue, one cannot deny the fact that English is a global language and since most of our students wish to pursue higher education abroad, English is a must-know language for all students. It's good to see ICT given a key role to play. The last year and a half has seen technology playing an important role and giving schools an opportunity to practice hybrid teaching and learning process. Coding is by far, the most sought after subject and NEP emphasises on its importance. NEP 2020, certainly has the potential to give young minds the chance to dabble in various combinations before charting their journey to the final destination, their dream career.
