Cong MLA: Punjab CM secy threatened me
Congress MLA and former India hockey captain Pargat Singh on Monday accused Sandeep Sandhu, political secretary of Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, of threatening him for questioning the state government over its “intent” in ensuring justice in the 2015 sacrilege and subsequent police firing incidents.
Alleging that Sandhu telephoned him last week, Singh told reporters here: “Sandeep Sandhu threatened me. He said he was conveying the chief minister’s message that papers have been collected against me and I should be ready to face action.” Sandhu could not be reached for a comment.
Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar, however, called it a case of misunderstanding. “It appears to be more of a case of misunderstanding than a threat. If he (Sandhu) made such a call and said those things at someone else’s behest, it is indeed a matter of probe,” he said.
